The Sound Of The Fat Lady

Sadly, the road for ‘I Am A Feeder’ stops here, as I’ve not advanced to round nine. But that’s okay! Because I made it to the final 24 and that’s pretty darn good! Plus, had loads of fun (and stress) doing it, and though I won’t be getting any extra cashish to help fund my three month trip, I have many more things to be thankful for! Like the super awesome bloggers I’ve met (and had so many silly moments with via. Twitter – to anybody I’ve weirded out along the way, I apologise profusely… and invite you to join in!), the amazing creativity of all of them, and friendships formed. Thanks to Project Food Blog I’m actually staying with people I’ve never met before, who have opened up their homes to me, offered to show me around their cities, and make sure that I get fed really well. I’m meeting a whole bunch more and if I’m anywhere near you I would love to meet you too! Send me an email or drop me a comment!

I’d also like to use this opportunity to say a public thank you to two people who have supported me in so many ways: Momma Lee & David. You hear about these two quite a lot from me and I wouldn’t expect that to change any time soon: I love them both very dearly. Momma Lee has sacrificed hours to help me get last minute ingredients, and listened to me as I rambled and shaped ideas. She has been my proof-reader, encourager and giver of hugs, & talked sense into me when I’ve had a mid-week freak out. David has been my biggest fan from start to finish, offered me support and advice, spoken kind words when I needed them and stern admonishments when I needed those too. Not to mention the fact that he re-built my entire site about three entries in to the competition, working tirelessly (and patiently) to make sure that we could roll it out on time. I attribute much of my success to the creativity and hard-work that these two people inspire within me – I hope I’ve made you both proud.

So, here’s where I’m going to be and when – let me know if we can share a meal! I would like nothing more!

10th – 20th January: Hong Kong
20th – 31st January: Sydney & Melbourne (Melbourne: 26th – 29th)
31st – 7th February: Vancouver BC
7th – 16th February: Portland OR & Seattle WA (Seattle: dates TBC)
16th – 21st February: San Francisco CA (could use a tour guide or two!)
21st – 24th February: San Diego CA (it’s my 24th birthday on the 23rd!)
24th February – 1st March: Austin & San Antonio TX (San Antonio: dates TBC)
1st – 3rd March: Chicago IL
3rd – 5th March: Boston MA
5th – 13th March: New Jersey & New York (New York: dates TBC)

Thank you to the Judges, fellow Featured Publishers (there are a handful of you who have championed me from the start: I won’t name all of you here, but you know who you are!), friends and family, & you for helping me reach this point in the competition; if there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s that the pool of talent out there is boundless, but the individuality of each shines through. I’m proud to have been part of that. And hey, there’s exciting stuff coming up over here, so come on back now! Nom Man and I continue on! Congratulations to the remaining twelve contestants – I look forward to seeing who’s crowned #1!

Until next time, friends – peace and love.
